What are Jesús Ferreira’s net worth and salary?
Jesús Ferreira is a Colombian-born homegrown forward for FC Dallas and a proud member of the United States national soccer team.
Over the span of his four-year career, he’s made nearly 150 appearances and scored 50 goals between his time with Dallas and the United States team.
This includes an impressive four-goal hat trick against Grenada that helped the US team defend its CONCACAF Nations League title.
Unlike other players, though, Jesús Ferreira didn’t have what we would call a typical childhood.
To understand his journey, let’s look back over his career and discover how a young boy from Santa Marta, Colombia grew to become a homegrown player for a Major League Soccer team in the United States.
Jesús Ferreira was born in Santa Marta, Colombia, on December 24, 2000.
His dad, David Ferreira, was also a professional footballer who had a successful career both in Colombia and Brazil.
In fact, David is considered one of the best players in Colombian history.
While Jesús was growing up, his father was a member of the Atletico Nacional team in Colombia. As a result, the family spent a lot of time living throughout the country, but they eventually settled in Barranquilla.
It was here that Jesús began to develop his own love and talent for soccer. He started playing at a young age and quickly began to stand out from his peers.
Then, in 2010, when Jesús was just ten years old, his father’s career took the family to the United States.
David had been signed by FC Dallas.
The move was a big adjustment for the family, but they quickly began to settle into their new life in Texas.
Jesús enrolled in school and, through his own talent, was accepted into the FC Dallas youth training academy.
Although his father retired in 2013 after sustaining an injury a couple of years earlier, Jesús Ferreira continued to play for FC Dallas’s youth team right up until 2016.
It was then, at the age of 16, that he finally joined the FC Dallas first team.
He made his debut on June 6, 2017, against Real Salt Lake, where he came on as a substitute in the 71st minute.
18 minutes later, he scored his first professional goal, helping FC Dallas clinch an impressive 6-2 victory. Since then, Jesús has gone on to make 114 appearances for FC Dallas, scoring 36 goals for the team.
After the first year, though, he was put on loan to the Tulsa Roughnecks, where he made 14 appearances and scored another 6 goals for the team.
After the season, though, Ferreira returned to Dallas and signed a designated player contract that ensures his position with FC Dallas until 2025.
During this time, he will also play with the United States national team in the upcoming World Cup.
The United States has called on Jesús Ferreira to play on the international stage at least three times since he started his professional career—first in 2016 to play with the US Under-17 team, then again in 2019 to play for the Olympics, and finally in 2022 to play in the CONCACAF Nations League games.
Although the Under-23 US team did not qualify to play in the 2020 Summer Olympics, Ferreira nevertheless proved that he was a formidable player during his most recent international showing.
He scored an incredible four-goal hat trick that helped the United States team defend its CONCACAF Nations League title.
For his performance both at home and abroad, Jesús Ferreira was named one of the MLS Best XI of 2022, as well as an MLS All-Star player and the Young Player of the Year.
These accolades that, although he’s still young, Ferreira has what it takes to compete with some of the best soccer players in the world.
Outside of his athletic career, not a lot is known about Jesús Ferreira. He currently appears to be single and enjoys raising alpacas, chickens, goats, and horses on a nearby Dallas farm.
According to those closest to him, he aspires to someday become a zoologist after retiring from professional soccer.
It’s also in the public record that he received U.S. citizenship in 2019 and that he maintains close ties with his father and the rest of his family back in Colombia.
